A distinguished police officer, started his career with Delhi Police in 1982 as Sub-inspector and swiftly rose to the rank of Deputy Commissioner of Police. He led operations against various Pakistan-based Khalistani and Kashmiri terrorist groups, including Lashkar-e-Toiba, resulting in more than a hundred arrests and solving cases of bomb blasts across states and thwarting assassination plots.
Shanker's interventions led to confiscations of explosives, weapons, and narcotics, including over 150 kgs of RDX/PETN explosives. Notably, he neutralised international criminals of the Dawood Ibrahim gang and solved high-profile cases. Renowned for his expertise in solving kidnapping cases, he successfully rescued victims without succumbing to ransom demands. Throughout his illustrious career, he earned accolades including the President's Police Medal for Gallantry, Distinguished Services, and Meritorious Services, recognising his exceptional contributions to law enforcement and public safety.
