Rice is cooked by boiling, or it can be ground into a flour. It is eaten alone and in a great variety of soups, side dishes, and main dishes in Asian, Middle Eastern, and many other cuisines. Other products in which rice is used are breakfast cereals, noodles, and such alcoholic beverages as Japanese sake.
Soil Nutrient Requirements
Rice crop usually require 100 kg N, 40 kg P and 40-60 kg K. As organic management is an integrated approach, efforts should be made to recycle the biomass to keep soil rich in organic carbon.
Sowing Method
Transplantation method – in this method seeds are sown in a nursery and the seedlings are prepared there only. After 4 -5 weeks in the nursery the seedlings are uprooted and planted in the fields. It is a difficult method as everything is done by hand and requires heavy input.
